PORCELAIN UNICORN av Keegan Wilcox - Grand Prize Winner
AXEL WESTRENIUS - en av mina goda nätkontakter - sände mej imorse följande e-brev från Australien om en mycket speciell film (3 min):
My wife and I talked about it after she too had watched the film. There is a timeless lesson in it. The kids in the film were members of the infamous HitlerJugend youth organisation. Among all the terrible things the kids were taught and witnessed was that they were required to report any sign of apparent disloyalty of their parents and relatives to the Gestapo. The boy who eventually became the old man in the film was an example of the unfortunately very few. That modern Germany managed to overcome this legacy and build a democratic and civilised society is a tribute to a leadership with few other examples in Europe and the Middle East. A sublime irony!
Political youth organisations always raise my suspicions. What has once been imprinted on the very young minds cannot easily be erased.
The film almost brought tears to my eyes. I was 15 when the war ended. My high school was evacuated and turned into a hospital for the walking dead rescued from Konzentrationslager Bergen Belsen.
