In Malmö works for several years the country's first Sharia. It applies not so far only a restricted range of Sharia-law rules.

Would Sharia applied in full, it would mean, among other things, that:

-- The value of a woman's life is half that of a man's life.
-- Testimony of two women is worth as much as the testimony of a man.
-- Daughters inherit half against sons.
-- A woman has no right to divorce from her husband.
-- A man can divorce his wife whenever he wishes and without her knowledge.
-- Men are allowed to marry four wives.
-- Women can not travel, work, attend school, or even leave the house without her husband's permission.
-- A woman must be resident in which her husband lay.
-- Mothers may not custody of their children when the husband divorced.
-- A widow may not custody of their children after the death of the spouse. The children are given to the father's relatives, and the mother does not even have the right to visit them.
-- If a man has no relatives, the society's priests custody of the woman's children, the family's money and possessions.
-- Marriage between a Muslim woman and a non-Muslim man is prohibited and invalid, while a Muslim can marry a non-Muslim woman.
-- If a Muslim woman raped, she can not bring the man to court if not four witnesses to testify in favour of her claim, otherwise she will be punished for adultery.
-- Muslim men may be flogging their wives to educate them.

Sharia is contrary to a large number of conventions to which Sweden is connected, for example,

* UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948
* International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1966 (IKMPR).
* International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1966 (IKESKR).
* International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, adopted in 1979 by the UN (CEDAW).
* The Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the UN General Assembly on 20 november 1989.

In the multi-requirement for Sweden to apply the Sharia in parallel to or instead of Swedish law, it is important that Parliament make a clear mark on this important issue.

The undersigned demand that the parliament declares that only Swedish law may apply to the Swedish authorities.
