BAAL in The Swedish Christianity

My BAAL's Nordic Culture
This is the head line when a friend of mine, Herti, writes: "My BAAL is asleep". This is Sweden 2006 in January. It´s really exciting Reading!
After the Baal study by Herti I have to go to my TWOT. In # 262 I´m reading that the Subject 'baal' means owner, husband, or the god Baal. Yes, that´s what Herti also studied. The verb 'baal' means possess, own (Ex 22:7), rule over (1 Chr 4:22), marry (Deut 24:1) And the female owner 'baala' also exists. The verb occurs with its derivates more than one hundred times.
And in Is 54:5 we read:
- For your Maker is your husband [baal] — the LORD Almighty is his name —
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
- For your Maker is your husband [baal] — the LORD Almighty is his name —
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.
In The Swedish Christianity we have to face a lot of Baals in the culture and the social life. The question is how we handle this. Are we adapting and adopting the cults and beliefs OR are we presenting the real truth about Baal and his capacity power to ownership. The Bibel and God's Word has the Truth whatever the modern believers say... [But this is another issue than the one we met on Herti's & Tomas' blog above.]
Foot-note
'TWOT' is Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament
