The Jerusalem Declaration on Christian zionism
A STATEMENT by the Patriarch and Local Heads of Churches In Jerusalem was published August 26, 2006. This Declaration has its focus on some organisations that can be considered as media call them "Christian Right Wing". The Declaration is signed, August 22, by Patriarch Michel Sabbah, Archbishop Swerios Malki Mourad, Bishop Riah Abu El-Assal, Bishop Munib Younan, Jerusalem.
The Declaration warns for groups of Christians that justify colonization, apartheid and empire-building. The Statement ends with "We stand for justice. We can do no other. Justice alone guarantees a peace that will lead to reconciliation with a life of security and prosperity for all the peoples of our Land. By standing on the side of justice, we open ourselves to the work of peace - and working for peace makes us children of God."
As reader - editor of M'Xp - of this Statement it is surprising to read about "justice" as most high authority, higher than what the Scriptures says about God's plan with His people and the Nations. It is not about pro Israel OR pro Palestine OR pro Peace. It is about what the Lord has written in the prophetic Word. The Patriarch and the bishops from Jerusalem have a statement and a declaration as was it written by the Public Opinion in the International Society. Prayer and intercession is needed so that the church in the Nations, including the MidEast's, has its foundation in the Scriptures and not in the propaganda agenda from the World Society.
ALL THE DECLARATION TEXT is to be read below. The other day it was published by Intercessors Network - and its editor Lars Widerberg gives this comment: "The views expressed in this declaration belong to the signatories, not to the main body of the Intercessors Network. Prayer and intercession, led by the Holy Spirit is an imperative in regards to the stance presented in the document."
