Acts 13 MMN

M M N A u g u s t L e t t e r
In our Mission Mobilisation Network we have very clear goals.
We want to be an encouragement in every possible way to all those involved in global missions.
We especially want to help them in motivating and recruiting others.
We are committed to the Acts 13 Breakthrough concept. A decade has passed since we launched that and there have been many changes. The need to see another 100,000 churches thrust out another 200,000 works is still there.
We want to keep the Network informal and we realise that every nation is different in the way they network and coordinate mission. We are not looking for any authority or leadership in all of this, but we do want to be a voice and a blessing.
We long to see more challenging and motivating missions materials flooded out among God's people in many languages. Due to the lack of funds this has slowed down in recent years, but praise God there are many other groups and agencies involved in this.
It is amazing to see all the kinds of materials that are getting distributed. I'm sure you have seen the large resource list that we have made available in the past. Please keep searching in your own country and language to see what is available, but not widely known. This needs to include key websites.
Many books are being published in India and other parts of the world and are available at lower prices. When did you last visit a Christian bookshop in your area to encourage them? Did you see if they had many mission books?
Another one of our great passions and goals is to encourage unity among God's people and especially those involved in missions. There are so many new ministries, churches and agencies and it is normal for them to push their own vision and work. There seem to be so many major emphases.
For example, the Transformation Movement, seeker sensitive movement, house group movement, apostolic movement, purpose driven movement, emerging church movement, leadership training, unreached people movement, church growth movement, Back to Jerusalem Movement, holistic ministry, revival movement. There are many more and of course a lot overlap.
How does the average person, or even a pastor or leader relate to all this?
I personally have read so much and spoken to so many people who are part of different movements that it seems chaotic, but praise God, I believe He is at work in the midst of the chaos! His unity is in the midst of diversity. Every movement will have its strong and weak points and usually a little error thrown in and that is why we want to appeal to everyone for more humility, reality, integrity, and love.
Can we all have a more big-hearted grace-awakened approach to each other and all that is going on as part of the Kingdom?
I would like to share more with you of what God has put on our hearts. Our own MMN Website is in its early stages, but take a look. Check out my personal website georgeverwer.com. I read all emails that come to me and actually have them printed out and pray over them. But, I cannot answer all of them.
Our faithful team at Forest Hill, Chacko Thomas, Hikari Matsuzaki and Jane Forrester-Barker are working hard to keep up and they also answer lots of emails and letters. Trevor Gregory in Scotland is part of our team and needs our prayers as his wife, Denice has been ill for a long time. His email is Trev.Gregory@mission.org
Finally I want to mention that we are trying to help mobilise the church in regards to the global HIV/AIDs crisis. We work closely with Patrick Dixon and ACET. If you would like copies of Patrick's two books about HIV/AIDS, just let us know. The Truth About Aids is a large book and is only in English. Aids & You is available in many languages.
Please let us hear from you.
Keep on keeping on.
